Maybe someone could help me out. I'm looking to get into searching for points! I need ideas on where to search in S/E Michigan. I do travel the Thumb area often. Locations to search are welcome, but I'm more interested in suggestions on where to search. Farm land, Creeks, Lakes, Rivers, etc...

Please "POINT" me in the right direction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance!

Well pretty much what you said plowed fields, creeks, lakes etc is a good start i see alot of stuff from Michigan. You might look and see if they have a Archaelogical club & join meet some ppl always helps. Not sure if there are any Michigan members here or not probably is, good luck on your search and post pics of your finds.

i drove truck for a while and always liked the look of the fields close to the marshes along rt 75 ,you might find some good spots over that way

I would check all fields or land near to all flowing waterways. Rivers,Creeks, tributaries... From river (or whatever) edge back. I tend to follow the plow marks. As for creeks I don't know. Ponds, Lakes or standing water is also good but it takes looking. Running water (if you don't already know) were paths to Indians. Hell look at many roads today. They started as Indian trails then wagon trails then cars. This is not always true but in most cases it is. Look at maps in a Gazetteer, Check Micros Terra-server (satellite Photos) if it is still free to look and print. These Terra-server photos are a few years old but they are great for looking at a site from above. I found several Fire & refuse pits this way on the fields I go to. And!!! I found areas of flint dispersant meaning the sites Flintknapping areas.
Just a few ideas.
