...no, not your usual carrats & corn but a few bits of metal.
We are still waiting for the Barley harvest which is now 11 days late, however, we may have anough forcast sun to get started by next weekend:dontknow:
In the meantime we tried an area of spray off weeds, which had very little good signs, so we went closer to the area we have done well before, & plucked off:
(4 hours)

2 Scrappy Roman Coins
Early 1800s Militia Button - 'HVC'
14th C Buckle
Tudor Knife Terminal
My best 14-15th C Thimble in awhile & definately my biggest (fits my thumb easily)8-)
Hammered Penny of Ed I 1270s:headbang:

Supernice patina on the thimble! Wonder bout the size. Usually we have very small ones, not even for a pinky.... And :icon_thumleft: for the penny!
And first barley is harvested here! But the stubbles are very long... I got more land today all planted with potatoes and they started harvesting this week too. I give it a try tomorrow. Signs are not bad!

If the Barley Stubble was long here & the only option, I would be all over it:thumbsup: (better than long Wheat)

Good luck on the potatoe field.

Well done!! :occasion14:

Cheers Papa, I totally agree with your strap line about education. I hate being told 'what' to learn, but it doesn't mean I know any less than those with Certificates.

Thanks to everyone elses comments, we have made the best of a bad bunch right now. Aug should be our first 'monster' month!:occasion14:

Hearken me back to the days of Silver Pennies :laughing7:
Nice looking thimble..
What are those lead items below the buckle frame in pic #4?
do yours have holes on the other side?
Here's the best pic I could find of one of mine..
Similar but larger three pronged lead whatsits turned out to be
cores from wooden doorknobs.
Thanks and HH to you! Herbie.

The right 3 are Lead Bag/Bale Seals.
The left one with a '2' on it has 2 fixing prongs on the back & is made from Aluminium, not sure of its function. (maybe a marker for farmshop crops)
