Thanks for the quick answers. What are the dead give aways? By flat you mean not enough detail (too few strikes)? All I know is to look for flutes and bulb of percussion. Don't see much in the way of either. Only the random artifact in these parts...I'm here to learn!

I will try.....Those are Tourist trade repos.Made to be sold to those who do not know better.
There is no work past the edge,the centers are flat.And the notches are raw and unworked.
Plus they just look crude and well just wrong....I hope that helps out some..

steve and frank are absolutely right
i used to see those in small tourist places along the interstate 35 in OK back in the 1970's
back then for a quarter or fifty cents each

Yup, look at the edges. the chipping only goes an 1/8 of an inch, and there is no chipping on the interior. They start out with a flat stone, and it stays flat.

Cheapies, about a quarter at any rock show.
