Load Binder???

Anyone have a clue what this was used for? Very much resembles a type of binder. But it seem too light duty for anything heavy.
 

Hard to judge the size...

Maybe a fence wire stretcher?

It’s about 2-1/2 ft long. The handle is 1/2” square. If that helps any.

By design, it is a stretcher for something. But for what.

Has the appearance of being homemade..maybe it is
for fencing?

Lucky is right on. It is a very old steelyard. The hook on the right held it up, the other hook was the weighing hook. the long rod was the beam.

We call them Steel-yard scales/weights.

With the sharp pointed hooks..

Thanks so much for the ID!

Maybe the kind/type of scale you found is for trappers that sold their furs by the pound. The sharp point would penetrate the tanned skins as they were hung and weighed.
