I found this last fall and was admiring it today and noticed that it has red glass or Ruby for an eye, it was made by G&W Boggett St Martin's lane England can anyone give me more info on it did they do something like this regularly or was this a special order,

It's hard to tell in the picture, but is it possible that the eye is a "cut steel", which is like a faceted steel pin applied sort of like a rivet. They can glisten a bit in a range of colors. I don't know if a magnet test would work if there were some chance this were the case.

Info from the book "American Military Button Makers And Dealers; Their Backmarks & Dates":
Boggett, George & William & Company, London, from 1835 to 1842. George Boggett died in 1842 and the firm became Boggett & Reynolds.

Not sure what this is?

I believe I found an old livery button while metal detecting.
Not sure what it is though. If any one can help me I would appreciate it.
I have checked several sites and can't find it
