Little silver for the last hunt (?) of 2018

Having a rare late detecting season here in Northeast, the ground is still very soft with the recent warm weather. Got out with Mike and Joe to a spot that looks to be an old homestead. Joe found an eagle coat button right off the bat, but I wasn't getting anything until I found an Excelsior militia button:



This was just coming into a flat section ahead of a cellar hole. As I moved closer I got a tiny high signal on the XP, and about 8 inches down found a seated half dime:



Holed with a square nail or something, looks like a couple of the holed seated on Cal Cora's banner post. Might be able to get out tomorrow for a little bit, but this could be the last finds of the year for me. Was happy to find a couple old items to close out 2018!

I like holed coins. It's part of the history of the coin. The hole wasn't punched to deface it, only to make it more usable. Gary
