Garrett Master Hunter CX/12" high energy hothead. R.I.P (1991-2013)
Took a trip back to the first little red schoolhouse which I found out only dates to about 1900 for a start.
Already found a old IH penny. and some Mercs several years ago.
had to go back and check a field across the street from the school as I was told that was where the boys played ball.
Besides a fair amount of iron, I was practically digging everything, and it was worth it.
I was getting some erractic beeps but this turned out..
Pic below....
1915D wheatie, and a pin..
Not even knowing where to start with searching for what I found I looked at it and said, OH I get it,,,,,it's a pair of crossed cannons..
So a simple google search for CROSSED CANNON PIN and the very first link pops up..
http://www.cdsg.org/reprint PDFs/CACInsignia1.pdf
1904 Officer of the Coast artillery corps pin...
This amazed me a little considering I couldn't even recognize what I found it was so caked in dirt.
A little electrolysis and some polish and it looks pretty good....
Needless to say, I covered about 5 percent of the field.
So I still have more work ahead.
Look for part 3 soon.....
