I found this brass pin several years ago. The pin is 3" long by 2" tall....a pin back ~ not a buckle. It was found on a Spanish land grant in California. It has four arrows clasped in the eagle's claws. One of my favorite pieces. I'm thinking the California quest for independence from Mexico. Any help would be appreciated.

Waterman007,
Your pin definitely has the war look to it.
You could be right or possibly CW or Indian War.
Please add a picture of the back if you could.
and you might try posting it here What Is It?
for more responses.

Very cool pin.
and WELCOME

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - I agree with HuntinDog - so - I moved from My Best Finds! over to Forum: What Is It? for more exposure.

I looked at this for a little while. I didn't find a match. My best guess is:

Victorian era patriotic brooch

Looks like something from the Spanish American war era to me. I don't think yours is military but does your pin attachment look like this one?
