Dug this yesterday along with some typical cw lead. I thought it was a mangled round ball. Got home and cleaned it up. The strange thing is the perfectly round hole in the base. The outside of the bullet has two very faint grooves or rings. It measures 11/16th round, the height is a little over 5/8 high, the depth of the cavity is 1/2 inch. Probably lost some of the height upon impact. The cavity is not oval just bored round and is kinda throwing me off. Thanks. I am sure this will be simple for someone out there other than me :dontknow:

Fired civil war Williams "Bore-cleaner" Type 3 bullet, missing the "thumbtack" from its base.

Doh!!! CannonBall Guy. I am glad you are so smart ! You made me run to a cabinet and pull one out from Chickamauga. I had just never dug any in BrownsFerry and for the life of me was drawing a blank. Never had one missing the whole thumbtack they usually broke off. Here is one beside it. Perfect match and you deserve my big green check . I am laughing and backing out of here. But I will take a williams cleaner any day over a 3 ringer.
Thank you sir!
