Found in central Georgia brass or Copper one piece about 2 inches

Probably the base for the D ring part of a latch for a trunk or satchel.

Being head of the “slang police” I must interject. I would put this piece in the “ whutchamacallit” family of unknown items, and just so you know, there are NO documented recoveries of the elusive “ 3 inch thing-a-ma-bob”, 2 and 5 inch ones have been recovered, but no 3 inch.

Well I have filed in the U.B.O. box don't think it is part of the latch system, leaning to part of a barette . Rarely do I find things that don't require investigations most unresolved. Doesn't sit well in my must resolve brain.

With it being brass and it having the anchoring folding tab holding crusty metal...
Maybe it was decorative part of a tin metal toy truck or car that rusted away??
The old ride on and pedal car Fire Trucks had a lot of shiny brass attachments on them...
