Listing Fees on ebay

They keep giving me free listings, and I've been preferring auctions to Buy It Now, so I only have to deal with the final value fees. I have them automagically take it from my PayPal, so I just keep enough in there to cover it.

IF I remember correctly they take money 1st an 15thof everymonth. Btw if you only use one catergory it is free to list 2 or more they will charge full price

Just to rephrase that slightly... the 1st "or" 15th. It can be taken either way the way you wrote it.

I'm on automatic payment and it's set for the 15th every month so pay then. However, if my PP gets a little extra over what I think I will spend I'll make a one time payment to knock down the invoice a little for when the middle of the month arrives.

Do you pay them in advance? After or during? Just got hit with a $120.00 invoice :(

You've got to pay to play. If you are going to be selling a lot of stuff this is the kind of thing you should take into consideration in the big picture.

Just think what you save not needing a physical address to sell your stuff like the old days. It's funny, as a kid I remember going into the mall and visiting the little coin shop there, and now thinking back wondering how the guy ever made enough to survive. People here are definitely not as loose with their money as many places, and that's because a good many don't have the extra to spend on such things as collector coins. Fast forward to today, and myself, someone who didn't know a thing about coins until I started detecting in the late 90s, and I can buy and sell in the numbers that the professional dealer sitting in that dead shop many years ago in the mall could have only dreamt about. In a way having a physical store would be nice to be able to talk with people, and would be a sense of pride being able to see what you own, but that doesn't mean much like the numbers do. And now the numbers are made easier for people like you and me because we have far less overhead and a whole lot less risk. Hell, isn't it great that anyone can wake up one day and decide to go into business for themselves! If it takes a small fee per item who cares, if there was no fees there'd be no ebay, and I very well could be dreaming of opening a coin store but knowing it would never be a reality because I'd never have the money to do it, nor would there be the business to make it worth it.

If they sent you a $120 bill then you've probably sold over $1000 on eBay. If that's the case then that's not bad. Most auction houses charge 30% - 40% and maybe 100 people see your item. Millions of people are on eBay and I have had thousands of views on some items.
