I have always loved large dollar coins, silver or not! I was at the bank today picking up some Nickels and saw these staring at me from the tellers counter! Every single one is the bicentennial (1776-1976) Ike's...and every single one looks pretty darn uncirculated! I know people get all intense when we talk about these but I think they are awesome...I will always buy them when I see them!

Thanks for looking

Nice score, looks like a nice tidy profit on them... Are they type I or II reverses?

To be honest I don't know...can you help me with the difference!? I'll take a look at them...

The fonts on the reverse. Type I is bold, Type II is thinner.

Type I:

Type II:

I don't know if there is a whole lot of value one way or the other, but here are the mintage figures:

1976 Type I - 4,019,000
1976-D Type I - 21,048,710

1976 Type II - 113,318,000
1976-D Type II - 82,179,564

I would say type II after looking. They all appear thinner than the type I you posted...what do you think?

The few reverses I can see in your top pic appear to be Type II's, but I can't tell that much, but I think that's what they are.

EDIT: Seeing all of them laid out like that, they all look like Type II's. Nice find either way!

Cool, thanks for the help Boris! I never even knew there were varieties! I will try and go back to get the rest of them! She had 137 of them and was trying to limit them to 5 per customer that asked for them. Since I know her pretty well she let me pick out 25...I'll see what kind of mood she is in tomorrow:-)

Would be cool to have all of the coins from this year...both mints and both varieties!

I found a roll of uncirculated type 1's about 6 months back, held onto them. I love BU ikes. Nice find.

Here is a higher res pic of the Type I. When you compare them side by side, it's no contest, they are easy to spot.

I'd get them all anyways since they are an easy sell on eBay. I have one of each, but none of mine look as nice as those do.

Thanks Big. They are a really cool coin! I used to flip em around when I was a little kid with my grandpa. Kind of cool he used to spend these back in the day! I liked the REAL silver ones he had better but ill never turn down an Ike!!!

The detail on the reeded edge alone tells me someone had these pulled and stored the day they came across them! They are the best lookin Ike's I have now!

My buddy has one of those. I've never seen it though because its back at his place in Jersey. Do you have a pic of yours?!

Nope, not handy. Sorry.

Picked up a bicentennial Ike this morning from a teller tray. It's nice, but I wouldn't say BU. Picked up a '74D the other day. I see so few Ikes that I always buy them. Not sure the clad Ikes have much value, but the investment so far is too small to sweat.

There is a difference of about $3 between Type 1 and Type 2 in uncirculated.

Ah, okay. I've never had UNC. Ikes before, so I wasn't sure, I thought there might be a difference.

Here's a pic for you. I found these two in the wild. 72S and 73S. Clad 71 for color comparison. The 72 has a huge rim ding at 8 o'clock :(. Oh well, I am pretty proud of them!
