Lightweight

One of my many hobbies is hiking. I might hike ten or twenty miles into nowhere and come across a small cabin, a few foundations or a campsite that has been there for a hundred years. I would like to take a metal detector, but weight and size is everything. Is there a decent lightweight out there? I was thinking a National Geographic kids model or a Bounty Hunter Handyman. Anyone have an Idea?

Xterra's run just a hair under 3 pounds, including batteries, and are a great all around detector.

My Garrett ace250,weighs only about 2 lbs,with batteries,plus you don't want a piece of crap metal detector like you mention,you want a real one.

Here's a follow up story,I can break down my Garret ace 250 and carry it in my backpack,it's a Lowe and has 1 big pocket,I usually use it for Disc golf.If you really want to get into this hobby,buy yourself a GOOD detector and a good shovel/digger & don't forget a good pinpointer,happy hunting
