Hey guys back again I don't usually just post a single find like this but I had to share. If you recall a few days ago I dug the 1836 cap dime. It took 20 yrs to get a bust silver and a half dime.

Well today just two days later I was hunting a old picnic grove caught a 11-38 at 9 inches and out popped another little coin. I picked it up and new right away I had another half dime. This one a seated nice shape 1839.


I'm just amazed with the performance of the etrac. With the amount of sites I have I'm thinking of bumping up to the CTX. Minelab has made me a believer. I dug some other old coins today as well but didn't have time to show them. I'll save them for my next post.

I like both the Etrac and the CTX, but the CTX is just a little better especially in terms of being able to see the screen easier. I don't think you will be disappointed if you find a good deal on a CTX and take the plunge.

Wow when it rains it pours! I see a lot of half dimes popping out in some parts of the country, but they seem to be scarce in Western PA.

OK, now that is just showing off. ha ha. I have dug several seated dimes but the half dime still eludes me. A big one on the bucket list for sure. Come to think of it, I think the one you just found was meant for me. All kidding aside, Congrats on another awesome find and HH.

Thanks a lot guys. Yeah the etrac screen is horrible to look at. Can't see it half the time. Luckily I can hunt with this unit and tell by the tone what it is. And once I put a rain cover on it forget about it.

Yeah Steve seated any things are hard to come by. Got lucky these past few days I guess. Hoping for that gold coin still. Couple guys out hunting found a 1880 5 dollar gold coin in one of the parks I frequent a few weeks ago. There still out there

Nice find! Gotta brag on my E-trac......she found me 5 half dimes last year & a beauty Capped Bust dime for my first coin this year! Yeah, the screen is crap..........Oh, well!!!

I was just gonna say that if your finding tiny stuff like that at 9 inches deep - why even think about an "upgrade" I'm not even sure
what that means in this context . I do see that you are a little unhappy with the screen though . Nice Find !

Grats on that sweet half dime, JerV3, and your praise of the Etrac are beginning to erode my resolve to get a Deus. However, the screen issue is puzzling to me. You would think that a great company like Minelab would take care of that right away.

Nice half dime. I found one this year as well, it was an 1837 (no stars) variety 1...but it had 2 holes in it! It seems a lot of people walk right over those little half dimes and silver 3 cent pieces as they read and even sound like junk a lot of times. GREAT FIND!

Thanks guys yeah my only complaint is the screen really. Yeah you would think they would have fixed it. I've got a bunch of three centers but the half dime has eluded me for all these yrs. I would get the CTX just to have a slight edge over the competition. Not many people have them in my area due to the cost.

It's amazing that the only wear is on the shield area usually they are pretty evenly worn
