Now that the weather is getting warmer, my headphones are burning me up! Hot, hot, hot and sweaty! I would like to find a set of light weight volume adjustable ones that don't cost more than my detector. I have a set with no volume control and they work ok on my GTI 2500 (with built in volume control), but the ACE (no volume control) blows my ears off! Any suggestions appreciated. JIM

Thanx! My son just came in from out of town and said he couldn't think of anything to get me for Father's day. I ran a copy of the headphones off and handed it to him! JIM

I got the Radio shack earphones, the ones that fit behind the head. I prefer the behind the head type as it does not mash your hat down and put pressure on your glasses.....which causes my ears to get sore! I also got the stereo adapter jack. The earpones work great but the tones are a little flat, not near as clear as a headset made for a detector. The tones are the same but sound like they're off key but once you get use to it they work OK. I tried them out in the yard and it was good not to have sweat dripping out of my ears! They have an in-line volume control that works well with the ACE. Total cost for everything was about a twenty dollar bill. JIM

Thanks for your update on this Jim! I am a newbie and posted a thread asking a few different questions...and one question that I had was about headphones. Your post helped out alot! Thanks!

The biggest problem that you can have with this is just making sure that if you have a mono jack on you detector make sure to use a mono adapter plug and the same thing with stereo . I use ear buds with mine .

It is too hot for headphones right now but I have a hearing loss and without them the speaker on the detector just sounds like a noise. I can't distinguish between one tone and another very well so some type of hearing enhancement is mandatory for me. JIM

Have you ever tried earbuds? They sorta sit down in your ear canal a bit and they have no head-piece... they're popular with MP3 players and such...

I'm sure you could pickup an adapter at radio shack... just a thought...
