LIFE'S CHOICES!!!

Hello to all my felow treasure hunters I am looking at buying my first Metal Detector With in 3 days are so i am so happy ive always wanted one and better yet i moved to a house out in the country on 40 acres i cant whait to see what i can find anways about my LIFE'S CHOICES i want to spend about $399+ tax for a Detector and theres 3 in mind i like The Minelab X-Terra 305 & Coinmaster GT & Garrett Ace 350
What one would you sugest i am a beginner to metal detecting but i also would like the extra features as i get more experience i will have theam any Help and Suggestions & recommendations I will be grateful also way would u buy one over the other Thanks u so much :)

I'm a white's fan
but the minelab by changing coils you change the frequency witch is nice it's like having many detectors in one
they both will walk over the garret
garret needs to get with the times

I bought a Garrett Ace250 & I love it,it was about$225 and it's worth it to me,make sure you by their Pinpointer too.

Though I love garrett, I say go with one of your other choices.

MADE MY MIND

Though I love garrett, I say go with one of your other choices.

I am going with the whites coinmaster GT i also got a Garrett Pro pointer i am so excited and i can't wait till i post my first finds feels good to be part of the treasurenet community :D

Learn your detector and take the time to get in sync with it and, of those three, the person who choses one and does some research and is persistant at the soil will whomp the other two brands.

very cool man, Get out and have some quality moments in life.

marz,
IF you purchased it from one of the sponsors on Tnet you might save some money, just a thought. But whatever you do learn the machine, have fun and Good Hunting............63bkpkr

i need an opinion i orderd a whites gt there a place local here that sales fishers and thay will be willing to sale me a fisher F5 for $410 should i send the whites back are is the whites perfect for someone new to the hobby i should have pleanty of room to grow with the whites...?

stick with the white's stay a way from first Texas instruments there vdi numbers came from white's when the patten ran out garret copied white's too if you listen to a white's detector then listen to a first Texas instrument you will here the white's sound so much better and don't have that cheap sound to them the Gt is a state of the art detector from white's but it up too you go too you tube look up both detector and listen head phones mite help the f5 but i doubt it

i am going to stick with the whites and if i need any type of upgrade i can just get the Prizm Mini "DD coil for better detection depth fir smaller targets.
I feel like i little kid i want it to be here faster so i can go find me some treasure even if its little things nothing is better thean the outdoors:D

marz,
I just took a look at the White's GT on their web site and I think you will love this machine, it even has a beach setting and as you are in south Texas you are likely no more than 500 or 600 miles from the beach, I mean Texas is a big state. It will have turn on and go settings for starting out and all sorts of adjustments to make as you learn the machine.

marz if you have the room to do it make yourself a test garden. In this kind of garden you plant modern coins say 4" deep and at least 3' apart so that when you swing you will not find another 'target' on the outbound swing. BEFORE you plant the coins check the ground with your detector and remove any targets your machine finds. So start with coins and mark the location of each one and what it is, like on a map and be certain you know where the test garden is!! After the garden has been planted water each coin location well to settle the earth back down around the coin. When you've gotten an idea of what the coins sound like then add another section with coin sized pieces of aluminum foil, a nail, a pull tab, a metal bottle cap and any other targets you feel are common for your area and water each spot down.

With this test garden you can even add junk close to your good targets just like you will find them out in the real world. This garden will help you learn your detector, get you used to detecting, you will hear the various sounds the machine makes and it will make you better right away to go out and find the targets in your area.

Oh, when you have a chance you might think about putting a coil cover on the bottom of your coil as they help to keep the coil surface from being damaged. That little shooter coil you were talking about will be a real winner when you are ready for it.

Let me give you some input here about White's. On their web site they have a section something like "Customer Stories" and they come from customers like you and I making finds with our White's machines. When you start finding items with your White's GT that You Have Just Bought take pictures of them out in the field and once they've been cleaned off, write down the story behind making the find, the settings on the machine and how you felt when you found the target. Send these pictures along with the story to White's. If they like your story and if they want to use it in the Customer Stories section they will offer you a $100 gift certificate for your permission to use your story and pictures. You can use the gift certificate to purchase accessories only but it will sure take a big bite out of the cost of that $150 coil you want. Check this out with White's to make sure they are still doing it!! OH Please when you find coins out in the field Please do not rub the dirt off!!!!!!!!! Put the dirty coin onto a piece of wet paper towel you are carrying in a container and when you get home soak the dirt off. IF you happen to find a valuable collectable coin you want to keep it in as good as condition as possible and rubbing or hard brushing the dry dirt off will reduce the value of the coin.

You have great machine there practice, practice and you will find great finds!...................63bkpkr
