Hey all,

vp here, I got out again with some buddies yesterday to a farm field that has produced some amazing finds over the years. I've been in a complete slump since I found my $10 gold piece back October (I know boohoo right LOL?) but seriously I haven't found ONE decent coin since then ?? really thought I was jinxed ...

Well yesterday I found what I thought was a braided hair large cent, Paco was with me and said "no that's looks like something older ..." he thought draped bust ... when I got it home and took a better look at it, it turned out to be a Liberty Cap cent !! (1794-1796 lettered edge)

I have only found one other before (see my banner finds) and it was close to this same field, I recently got that one certified and included the pics in this post ... too bad this one wasn't in near as good of shape though, got to her about 50 years too late I think ... very cool find and heck of way to get back in the game!

Heading back out today

take care & thanks for looking !

I'd like to find any "semi toasted" 1700s coin...your certified '94 is very nice.

One out of two Liberty Cap coppers is a great average. Your fortunate to have the one with such minimal corrosion. I found a Liberty Cap half cent last year but it was blown away with corrosion.

yeah it's a shame they degrade so much, I found a pewter counterfeit copper once and it was beautiful, wish they were all like that ...

take care

Same goes for the only 2 cent piece i've ever dug up. The corrosion is so bad that i didn't ID it until days later.

Toasted or not, great find! Your slabbed 1794 is awesome- Congrats!

It seems that many have dug the coppers that are toasted to a certain degree when digging out in the fields. When one pops out that is is in great shape I appreciate the kind gift that the soils have bested on the copper.
Congrats on the latest copper and the slabbed /94-a real beauty.
