liberator pistol

well, I can't get that done tonight. It's in very good condition, but at worst? ballpark?

Lucky You that is a true piece of US history They were developed as a tool to be air dropped to the French Underground during WW2 , They fired one shot 45 Cal I believe , The idea was that the underground could get UP CLOSE dispatch the Nazi and take his weapon , Since it is always a benefit to use the ammo of your foe. Now what I have read is the Lamp and GM were the MAJOR manufactures ,, However since they were ment to be used overseas, they bore no serial number, In the early 50's a stash was located in a GM plant and they were destroyed by the Government ...... I would suggest checking a gun auction site for a price , Since I know its against the rule to post another site I will PM you the name GREAT FIND

Thanks, so happens we live in city where guide lamp was located

as soon as he pulled it from the box I knew I had seen it on some tv show and the story

If you go on gunbroker.com they have a couple there up for bid. just put in Liberator and they will com up
kent

is it in it's box? Does it have the instructions in the handle with it's original ammo? Al 3 of those would make it worth 3-4k, without it depending on condition, could be 1000

no box or instructions, but do have period 45 ammo. no rust, all parts move easily

thanks, we won't

A good price for one in decent condition seems to be around 2500$ these days. (without box and instructions) I remember seeing them 20 some years ago for around a hundred, but for some reason people are fascinated with them now. Never trust the prices you see on any of those storage or pawn shop shows, they are generally WAY off the mark.

It may vary from area to area. But around here, I have seen these usually sell for between $1000 to $2000 in good condition with no box or instructions.

However, you need to be aware that there are reproductions out there. If there is any rifling in the barrel, it's not an original.

well, the gun came from the director of public relations for guide lamp. But I will check for rifling. thanks for the tip

The history of where it was found and in whose home will greatly increase the Value ! If your son can get any documentation that he was to clean out ie Mr Public Relations mans home add that along with his statement that he found it there and write a letter and get it notorized --------the big piece is linking MR Public relations to the home and your son to the cleanup ,,,,, I would recommed Rock Island acutions if you can get that together

Speaking only from memory, which is sometimes flawed(getting old really sucks) I believe that thousands were dropped in the Philipines for use against the Japanese. They cost around two dollars each. The pistol grip would hold five rounds which could then be loaded for single shots. The original box and paperwork are extremely rare and can multiply the price tenfold. Great find--Congrats!
