Can you check and see by turning your first picture over, if you can make any of the letters out. I can see an upside down A, but not much else. Thanks

Hey Billy, nice treasure from your Grandparents.
It looks like it could be either metal or wood, in different pics.

Something about the style - I am just guessing (I am no expert)
French or Portugese? maybe North African, late 19th into 20th C

was Morocco on your Grandparents' Honeymoon itinerary?

Cheers, Mike

Teakwood from the Philippines? I think it's wood, by the looks of it. Worn.

The reason I thought Philippines is because a lot of servicemen were sending things back from there during WWII and afterwards. Don't know if the grandparents had a son or relative or even the grandfather was over there then or not, but I've seen lots of teakwood items from that era sent or brought back as souvenirs. They always have that fancy carving and woodtone. Just a thought. -Noodle

Hey everyone,
This thing is made of copper. The hallmark I believe to be right side up.I can't make out what it says either. My grandma gave it to me and said it was her mothers. If my grandma were alive she would be 94 so I'm guessing it'skinda old. HB

An identical fleur-de-lis— and no, they don't all look alike— appears on an Italian-made letter opener with a different style of blade, listed in a 1996 letter opener ID/price guide. Sorry, I can't post a pic due to ©.

i found the same one in a 1998 price guide says it is made of nickel and gives a value of $6 ....also found one brass with silver plated blade made in Birmingham (England I assume)....with a value of $8....no age on either one

I have a Italian Cross Pendant from the 1870's that has a lot of the same features. Any Italian Relatives.
