I love letter openers! I found these out and about on the last few hunts. The 1900 Farthing was on the surface today. It sure is one beautifully designed coin. The opener has some initials from the owner or the maker. Looks handmade. The round thing is silver. And I am pretty sure the marble is stone. I have found a lot of clay ones, and a few larger ones made out of this kind of stone. I think I have some arms to put on the doll somewhere. I hope you all find some goods before it gets too cold. Please post some letter openers if you have any I would love to see them:) Thanks for stopping by! 1102171332-1.webp1102171331a-1.webp1102171346-1.webp1102171330_HDR.webp

Nice finds up thar!

I think you may have found a very collectible Roycroft letter opener. They were big in the Arts and Crafts movement.

Congratulations on the nice finds your making!

That sure gets my excitement going, if you turn it sideways it seems to match. It was one of those finds that I think I had dug it years ago and left it on the surface thinking it was junk. I picked it up and noticed it was worked on so I brought it home. I think it matches the middle mark when you Google Roycroft copper marks. Thank you so much rastinirv for recognizing the mark!!!!!!! I go bonkers over this kind of stuff!!!!

Awesome finds! Congrats!

Lovin' the letter opener!:love10: The stamping is really cool! Looks old. A farthing! Heck yeah! Nice scores on some really cool stuff. I am going Gung Ho until the ground freezes!!!:headbang:

Your farthing is really cool! Great finds, fun times. Congratulations!

Thanks Hbru and Kurios, here is a link to Wikipedia. A very interesting read.

The Roycroft was an early American guild with a code of " A belief in working with the head, hand and heart and mixing enough play with the work so that every task is pleasurable and makes for health and happiness." That opener is one of my favorite finds!!! Thanks Wrightdigger, it is made of bronze and a keeper for sure!

Congrats on your first Farthing.
TNET has so many experienced and knowledgeable treasure hunters.
I would have never recognized the significance of the letter opener.
