Hello, we found this in scotland in church grounds in an old tea caddy wrapped up with the lock of hair in the middle??? Does anyone have any idea what this could be there for?
Its reads:
From a ........ young
You gave all your might for
Sir william wallace, with all his might
Loyal and true, brave of heart.
You followed him mostly from the start
Shoulder to shoulder, heart to heart
You were always there to protect his back
The man you were still shines brightly
Through from tales, deeds so brave of
You followed wllace on his great campaign.

There is more but its unread able, it was found in scotland in a church site with no graves so dont worry but really would appreciate your thought.

Well you have hair if you want to get a DNA analysis...

Just as a guess, I'd say someone was burying their troubles for therapeutic reasons.

Weird.
But given: ballpoint pen, paper intact, and modern english diction, this is not attributable to the time of Sir William Wallace, of 13th century Scotland fame.

A bit of blood, hair and verse. Someone was doing a bit of calling up the dead; or at least attempting to.
