Hi Folks, I'm a bottle collector who found this site researching some coins and gold and what not, and I know bottles are found by the guys hunting Civil War sites, and was wondering if anyone would post pics of bottles they have found?

I'm also interested in adding to my collection if anyone is looking to sell bottles they have found, please do not take this a solicitation to ask you sell items you like, but more of an offer for those who already plan on selling. If you post bottles on this thread I will not ask you if you want to sell them...

thank you everyone

Bottles you say? if you check out my video i posted last week http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/329692-army-potomac-camp-examples-hut-sites-we-dug-etc.html you will see in the video @ about 1:50 the type of glass bottles we dig up expect i broke that one. I have about 200 bottles I have dug in hut sites when i get down to the storage unit next week i will take some photos of some I have. It's amazing I have dug so many rare bottles but yet they seem not to be worth much, always as amazed me that civil war bottles aren't higher value than they should be, I also have several ink wells which those do sell at a high price! :occasion14:

cool, I'll check out the vid. I've always wanted to dig some civil war sites for the bottles, the other stuff is great too, but I'm a bottle guy.

You all get some good bottles, but they were mass produced, the 1860's saw advancements in the methods of production and mass marketing on a large scale. As fragile as they are a lot of bottles survived in such large amounts that there are more bottles then collectors... the prices respond to supply and demand... If you haven't had anyone look at them I could give you hand with what you have, online of course...

I love the inks, dug three different pontil examples last week. My wife loves em too, lucky for me!
