Hay Folks,

How about a tour of the other side of the River?

Back in the early 1900’s, North Little Rock was known as
Argenta. There was a terrible problem with stray dogs in
Little Rock. Residents in Little Rock started herding and
catching dogs and chasing them over the Arkansas River
bridge into Argenta.

Some people still refer to North Little Rock as “ Dog Town “.

They still have a, Guess What>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Dog Town has a huge park on the river. It has lot’s of things
for metaldetectorists to do.

They have tot lots:

Back in the back ground of this photo:

I found this ring after a short hunt. I keep these lots clean:

There’s a full time carnival there:

There’s a golf course. Haven’t hunted there yet. lol :

This isn’t half of the soccer fields:

Baseball fields:

There’s a place for wake board and ski tournaments.

10-8-2.jpg

There’s an old covered bridge:

There was a World War I training camp there. I have found
several WWI relics there.

The water in this photo is in a crater created by an artillery
Round in the early 1900‘s. This is way out in the woods:

There’s another park just down the river. They have their
own defenses.lol

They have trolley cars going over to LR:

There is a walk bridge constructed over the abandoned
rail road bridge.

My uncle worked for the rail road and was the man who
raised and lowered that bridge. It always stays up now:

Back up the river is a place that is unknown for the most
part. But it’s an important part of our history.

In the early 1800’s the Little Rock side of the river could
not be accessed by boat.

The first settlers landed on the Dog Town side. Very close
to the spot where this photo was taken.

This is looking up river:

When they got off the boat, I think they went this way up
the bank. I think the first road in this area went past this
spot off the bank of the river:

Well, I would have kept on going, but I only had a 20
exposure roll of camera film.

That’s all the pics til I get some more camera film.

Those film rolls sure are hard to plug into the computer….

Looks like a good area to hunt . Best of Luck.

Tabdog,

What type of coil do you have on your Tesoro ? Nice finds !

Thank you for your time and effort in informing us as to where the history is in your area.
A digital camera is a lot easier to to make computer photos. Dang fangled machines!
Sure beats turning film into digital.

Nice pics. Thank you.

Wow, I may have to come pay you a visit just to see those locations. That is a very impressive assortment of photos and history. Thank you for this post

Hay Hoosier,

I was using a 5.75" concentric coil on a Euro Sabre.

I also have a 7", 8", 8"X9", 10"X12". All concentric.

I have a Euro Sabre, a Compadre, a Vaquero and a

Silver Sabre uMax.

The Vaquero is H.O.T. circuitry....... I have a 5.75"

concentric and the stock 8"X9" for the Vaquero.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog

I guess you can tell, I like Tesoro'es.

I think I want a 'Keep off the Tank' sign for my front lawn. Then I guess I'll have to get a tank.

Really nice photos of a park to make any THer drool. I was in NLR last weekend and started to take my detector, but, as I was there to see brand new Grandson, thought mom and Maamaw might not appreciate me bailing out. I'll have to try it on a later trip. (Daughter & family live in Conway.)
