Just kidding. Looks like a tiny pipe but it's not as the stem is solid. Don't know what type of metal. Anyone know what it is?

Hi; STOP, HOLD THE PRESSES.!!!! There was a metal Pewter pipe shown here 2 days ago that is of VERY Important History. Here you are showing a second metal pipe. My questions are these: Is it Pewter ??? What is it's exact Gram Weight ?? Where was it found ?? Do you have ground pictures ??
Guys, PLEASE hop in on this one ok. It may just be a regular metal pipe or it may be MUCH MORE. I just want the Pipe Pro's here to weigh in on this one before I say anything at all. THAT would be INCREDIBLE if it is in fact like the other one. 2 of them in 3 days would be OFF THE HOOK.!!! What say ye guys ?? I await. PEACE:RONB

with no draw hole to be a pipe --likely its a candle snuffer to put candles out with.

Hi Ivan; I'm not sure. The picture does not show a draw hole but that don't mean there is none. Bruce, Please tell Us if there is a draw hole on the stem. Thanks. PEACE:RONB

Sorry BARKER but this is not a pipe. It is not pewter. The metal is not soft or pliable. And the stem does not have a hole to draw smoke. Although it looks small to be a candle snuffer I guess they could have been made in various sizes for different size candles. Unless someone has a better idea I'll take it that ivan is correct.

Sorry again BARKER. I was wrong about the metal not being soft or pliable. It is not magnetic and the stem bends easily. The stem could have been longer at one time. I scraped a spot with a knife and it looks like lead. Or pewter but don't know for sure. But definitely has no draw hole. It seems to be a bit plain for a candle snuffer compared to the ones I Googled. Although that doesn't mean it isn't. It has a mold seam which might help determine it's age.

It was found at a cellar hole in MA and the house is on an 1871 map. Not sure how long the house was there before that. It was still there in 1938 so a variety of items were found. I'm sure the many surface signals were masking deeper targets. This item was only about 3 inches deep. If it is made of lead I'm not sure it could have been used for melting lead. I did find some small lead shot but no large ones that day. SkaBa's suggestion of a power scoop sounds good. My hunting partner thinks it could have been a child's toy pipe.

Could be a pattern for making a mold?

If it were for pouring lead, it would have some sort of lip/spout to control the pour.

I agree it's not for molten metal. It could have been a scoop used for gun powder, coffee or tea etc. Even a Leprechaun's gold. ha ha. I'm afraid it's plain/simple design makes it hard to positively ID.
