Leaving in the AM.

Well I leave for Las Vegas at 8:00 am in the morning and they're calling for 6 to 10 inches of snow to start falling after midnight tonight in Maryland. Hope I can beat it. Found the local detector store (desert outfitters) and will ask about locations to hunt. Also found a ghost town 25 minutes outside of town on the Colorado River that has an old mine and a few buildings standing. I know it's probably been hit hard, but how often do you get a chance to go to the Nevada gold feilds area? I can only detect for 2 days but hopefully it'll be worth it. All I wish for is 1 nugget. I don't care if you need a magnifying glass to see it. I just want the bragging rights with the wife who thinks I'm crazy with this "new" hobby of mine. Wish me luck. I'll post pics when I'm there hopefully.

Make sure you check the laws in the area. Most ghost towns are private property and surprisingly not been hunted on due to owners turning people away.

Thanks for the heads-up Nick. I'm going to a place that used to be called ELDORADO by the Spanish and is now called NELSON. With a name like that (Eldorado) I can't go wrong. It has a public area so I might get lucky. After all, This IS Vegas! It's partly sunny and 68 degrees. When I called home there were 6 inches of snow on the ground and it was still coming down hard. If I don't find anything it really won't hurt my feelings. At least I'll have a WARM week for a change. I'll keep you all posted. I'm off to the Venecian for dinner.
