I'm curious if any other members do any leatherwork. Here's a set of double billet saddle bags I made recently. It's the first time I did any tooling on the leather.

Nice! I used to do some leather stuff when I was younger, but haven't done anything serious in years. Your work looks much better!

Thanks. Why did you quit it? Too many other things going on?

Mostly, yes. I'm interested in about a million things, but only have time for one or two. Just not enough hours in the day.

Very nice work there. I dabble once in awhile. Wish I had been doing it when I was doing some laser wood work. Would have been fun to do some experimental carving and cutting. I have used a Cricut machine to do some embossing. Also cut some designs in vinyl, adhered it to the leather and then stained it. Came out very crisp, looked good.

What kind of stuff were you making? Thanks!

Small leather items. Note pad covers, key fobs, guitar pick holder. Also did a lot of paracord stuff for awhile. On the laser I cut 5K monogram letters for a wholesaler, along with a personal projects.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing!

My wife started making the wreaths after she retired, selling through the wholesaler, who lost her monogram supplier. My work week as an ER RN was only three 12 hour days a week. So I took on the job. Wish I'd kept that setup now that I'm retired. More time for detecting!!
