Learning to Fine tune

Well, I didn't get a manual when I got my Whites Pro Xl second hand. Thought I knew how to use it and have had some good luck. Well, last night I printed the manual off the whites site and discovered some mistakes I've been making. I Decided to go back and hit an area this afternoon that I thought I'd worked over. The results where 2 mercury dimes, 7 clad dimes, 3 nickles 4 quarters and several memorial cents.

Hi Kirk

Tech data... the indispensable tool.

When i first got my MXT I set my controls to the "preset" settings and it caused me to miss things until I discovered better settings while experimenting. It does take time and having the understand is a learning experience.

Don't feel silly... we have all done that or are doing it now without knowing it.

Your post might help awaken some of us.

I got the Sunray S-12 for my Sovereign Gt today so let the Arse Kickin Resume. If I ever learn to pinpoint with the cottin pickin thang.. I guess diggin washtub size holes is not a problem is it... LOL

Congrats. I own an XLT and just had the same thing happen to me. I started 2008 by cranking up my preamp gain, and in this one month I've found more than I did all last year (including more silver already)! It's incredible what a huge difference a few tweaks make.

You're in for a good time. Just be sure to re-check all your "hunted out" spots!
