A lot of “history” from my latest sweep. Didn’t take more than 5 steps without a hit. The old saw blade appears to be a Warranted Superior, 3 canning lids, 1 buckle from bib overalls, a thin, curved wrench, lock set for a door, broken hinge, cabinet roller latch, cultivator point, nails, screws, etc. the confusing item is the long, hollow tapered tube. Several guesses from area farmers, but nothing positive. I also found a lot of rusty tin and wire.
Should I remove the porcelain liners from the lids? One appears to have a slight crack. Thank you.

I gave up MDing on my property. There is so much junk here and my house was only built in 1967!
If rusty wire and square nails had much value, I’d be drinking wine in Rome right now. Better clarify: Rome Italy, NOT Rome, Iowa.😆

Tube could be a fid for splicing?
I never heard that term: fid. Looked it up on-line. Pretty interesting. Thanks! I’m still leaning toward the lightning rod tip though. It’s hard to see in pic but the long outer tube has another piece stuck in the female end. If it belongs there, it maybe some type of fitting.

No, do not remove the porcelain part of the lids. They are an integral part of them. Congratulations on the super cool finds!

I wasn’t sure, most of the zinc cap is gone from 2 of them
