The weather was cold today so instead of fishing I got the AP PRO out for a hunt. I had read some settings for better results and also changing the coil cable layout so i did this before the hunt. Off I go, turn her on, as soon as I move, bee, beep, beep. Then I lose the signal, Go again, same thing, mmmmm, I'm concerned.

Turn down the sens, no better, change frequency, no better. Go back to my old settings, no better, change the coil wire layout, no better, Factory reset, no better.

Ok, I've somehow broken my baby and start to mumble under my breath as I head off the car, head down, a waste of time and my new baby is sick.

As I'm wandering back, kicking the ground I have a revelation like a bolt from the blue!

Never, I mean never wear STEEL CAP BOOTS when detecting near your feet!!!!! :tongue3::laughing7::BangHead:

I detect beaches mainly, never wear any shoes but because it was cold today, I changed. What a doofus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It did get me thinking though about any shoes that have rivets around the lace holes or metal lace ends, must get plenty of false signals from them.

Anyway, kicked off the shoes, put up with cold feet and got a few coins, happy days!

At lest you found out fairly soon what the "problem" was!

I spent about half an hour chasing "ghost" signals always to my left. Seems my detector is capable of detecting my hand held scoop at about 2 feet! I was holding it in my left hand while detecting, so the detector sounded off every time it was swung to the left ! Then the signal disappeared when I turned to face that direction.

I've done that too, I have a small aluminium shovel that I have to hold behind me

I have done that with my wedding ring. I was checking dirt and was like i cant find it in my hand. The pinpointer is saying its there. Yeah it took me a little bit to figure that one out. Lol.

images.jpg.............Stay tuned, there will be a lot more valuable funny lessons learned from future post...

Did the same thing a few week's ago after work ! I didn't realize it till I got home and took off my work boot's! Now I see I'm not the only one to be had by the "Newbie" bug LOL, Live and learn.

Yup, been there done that! the best lesson tho was forgetting to let the security know I had knee replacements, my daughter kept yelling "your knees Mama", & in all the commotion I couldn't hear her. It took several walk throughs before I remembered, & they let me go through. That was a lesson I hope I never forget!!

Huhh, do it with a PI.... funny how much metal gets put in shoes ;)

Hey, I'm not the only Doofus out there. The best part was me talking to myself with head phones about what a goose I was :laughing7:
