Lead things found in an 1850's Railroad Slag Bed.

Found in the Slag of an 1850's Railroad bed, at a Louisiana Plantation.

1st Item:

-Lead
-Found approx. 8 inch down under the slag!
-Has grooves in it, possibly crumpled

2nd Item:

-Lead
-Found approx. 10 inch down under the slag
-Has 2 ribs on the concave side
-Is shaped for some purpose, possibly a part or component of another item.

What are these items?
 

The lead is a sewer pipe packing. Looks like 2 1/2" pipe fit in a larger pipe and the lead was pounded in around it .

There are still whole pieces of rail, thousands of stakes, telegraph post and their components, Cyprus fence post; all waiting to be exhumed. Just have to find the train they left behind...
