It's heavy for the size. Feels like a 3oz fishing weight. I'm thinking it's a spinning piece sandwiched by lead, but what would be like that? Found at an old each site with lots of old papershot shells. 1901's, WRA STAR etc. Thanks for any thoughts 20190312_204353.jpeg20190312_204402.jpeg20190312_204414.jpeg

It's a Forster shotgun slug that has been fired and hit something flat...d2

Pretty darned big slug for a shotgun! Too intricate as well.

Most have between eight and 16 raised ridges. Not 40 or so.

Looks to have iron or steel rusted away in the "sandwich". Possibly the lead is some kind of plug that outlived what it was plugging. No idea what or why the pattern but the "flat" side looks like a plumbing lead pour.

It does seem large for a slug. I can see the plug idea...20190313_093618.jpeg

I think a slug as well looks identical just bigger than most could have been fired a a very close range
