This lead thing is 1 1/4 wide and 2 1/4 long to the break point
The verticle lines are original Some one decided to stamp x's in it
There's a tiny hole too......fishing sinker,animal trap ??
And on the back they wrote something if only i had the other piece
i could decifer it
Any one know what the lead was originally used for (plumbing) ??
Is it old ??

I'm 99.9% sure it's lead It's got weight to it and bends easy (with the verticle lines).
I forgot to mention.....it's 1/8" thick. I'm guessing it came wrapped up
like masking tape :-\ ?? Sorry i've never heard of babbit ....... ??? :)

Babbitt contains tin and copper and was used to line bearings, usually larger shafts.Homes prior to the mid '50's,used cast iron piping for soil/sewer runs and they were sealed together with lead. The lead was melted into the joints much like solder. Also exterior sewer piping,(field pipe)4-6" were caulked and then leaded in at the joints. In other words,I have no idea??
