Found this on a multi component site. It is one millimeter thick. Wondering if anyone has run into something like this.

Lead was sold in strips or bars for use in anything from making pipe seals to casting fish weights and bullets. The only thing I question is if it was sold like this with the textured surface or if that was from being already used on something.

Looks like a single cut file pattern.
Two files togethers width would create a width to dress a groove/kerf accordingly. A shim between them would create a wider groove. Tighter making for a more accurate straightness and keeping an end or ends from being wider than near the center.

IF only one side shows pressed file mark; a piece of harder than lead flat stock could have sufficed for the other side..

Not saying that is what your lead piece had going on.
Someone could have been building a surface up and grabbed a file as a shim. Then needed greater dimension and used the lead with it. And who knows what else?
