Lead Shoe Buckle?

I dug this old buckle and all I know about it is its made of lead. Any clues anyone?

How do you know it's made of lead?

Just a guess because it has a soft metal feel to it.

I would imagine it be brass. If it were lead it would be silver looking or have a white patina on it.

Common horse tack, there's really no specific date on these, most likely old. It's brass, and a nice find!
