Found this in Tampa's Ybor City, anyone know anything about the markings? It appears to be a 1 over a line then a 4 as in 1/4?

Most of the lead seals we see (or find) are about the size of a dime and have two wires coming out of the side. Not sure what you have there, but I don't think it is a seal.

It's lead Jeff & I say lead seal because that's what I was first told. Now it's being questioned so I'm not sure what the heck it is :-)

Yes I'm pretty sure I saw another post here where you were told Seal.
although I kept quiet there :tongue3: the shape does not warrant calling it a seal.
and unless there are major varying shapes, I have to stick to Knob/winder,
or if not, then possibly a Button.

the reverse doesn't say seal to me.

here are good examples of what I see as Seals

When I dug it out my first thought was button but again I've been beepen for 30+ years but I always hunted old coins. I'm relatively new to the relic hunting & am also new to learning what each relic actually is. So I took what I was told & accepted it, now I'm not so sure :-(

Hopefully someone here will be able to id it for you. But whatever it turns out to be I think it will be a much better piece than a seal. Seals are fairly common but what you have is not something we see every day. Good luck with the id.

Thanks duggap, now I'm dying to find out what it is.
