I found this lead "plate" a while ago and I thought it was super cool even if it isn't whole and in two pieces! The only thing is, that I have no idea what it is. It seems to be in the shape of a shield with a building in the middle, maybe the white house or something? And it has stars on top with an eagle in the middle. It has some small writing on the back, but I can't tell what it says. If anyone knows anything about this piece please tell me cause it is just so cool!

I don't know anything about your find but it's neat. It does look like the White House. Could it be pewter and not lead?

Looks like the White House to mew. Have you tried a rubbing to see if you can get something more legible on the writing?

I am thinking its lead because of the white patina and the fact that its pretty heavy for its size, but you could be right. I think the writing says "applied for", so probably a patent. The writing is cut off where it is broken. It was found at my friends house was built over a very old seminary that burnt down in the early 1900s.
