Hi; Putting together a display case for a landowner. Have no clue what this is but was found near a house site where artifacts ranging in dates from late 1700s to 1870s came out. Lot of feather edge pottery (blue and green), black glass and white pipe stems etc.

Item is solid and heavy like a .69 round ball. Not sure if it is lead or pewter but one of the two. Has a barely perceptible beaded design on the top around the edge as if to help with gripping.

Bottom measures exactly .5 inch but expands towards the top. I was thinking possible bottle stopper but I have never seen a lead one. Anyone know what this may have gone too?

When I enhance the photo, I'm pretty sure I can see partial Win.... If so, my guess would be that it is a Winarick Perfume or tonic bottle stopper.

Possibly a fired bullet and the taper you are seeing is from the impact.

definitely not a fired bullet, top is too uniform and there is a distinct pattern on top. Also there is some amount of tin in the lead as the oxidation is blistery gray versus chalk white.
