I found this a few weeks ago (item on right)and cleaned it up a little with a brush today. It does not appear to be lead. I have other lead that I have found and it just doesn't seem to be the same. The opposite side is hollow.

possible , what material are they made of? I will have to look at what my husband has for ammo for his. it is heavy for the size.

Depends on brand most are lead , they come in. .117 Cal - 22 Cal , what color was it before you cleaned it

One simple test is to take a pocket knife and see if you can easily make a mark or indentation, if so it's lead. Silver is much harder and doesn't bend easily.

My first guess is that it's a fired .22 bullet that hit its mark.

You should be able to make a mark on lead with your fingernail. You won't be able to do that with silver.

It may not be pure lead, it could be melted/partial modern bullet in which case it won’t be that soft. It looks like construction scrap to me but you never know, it could be a silver doodad and it beats the hell out of finding a pull tab.

Kind of whitish but not powdery. I will have to test it when I get back home. I have a lot of lead, this just seems different. Between the weight and the color I was thinking silver possibly.
