Hey y'all. I've had this for a while and have never been able to determine what it is. The letters on the front appear to be etched by hand and read "AXTER". I would imagine that the name is "BAXTER" but the B has simply worn away over time. Found with a metal detector six inches deep in the woods in a very rural part of the NC foothills. Any ideas? Yup! I think the people above have it right! Looks like it is probably from the 1930's. I can see the shape of a crown top at the top, which gave away that it was a bottle. Probably nailed to a wall in a general store, or outside of it. Cool find!

Also looks kind of similar to some of those old wall bottle openers, but I don't see how that could open a bottle. Maybe could have been missing something.

Would the prongs have been nailed into the wall? Also, would lead be an unusual metal to use for that kind of advertisement considering how soft it is?
