found this lead ingot while searching a civil war sight it has writing on it ( EDLOW LEAD VIRGIN LEAD CO. COLUMBUS) did some checking on the net for any info on this company but didnt find anything did troops use lead like this i know they needed lead to make bullets i dont want to melt it down until i find out about it hate to melt it and find out is was a part of history any one know anything about this thanks bjb

I don't know much about it, but do not melt it! I mean, why would you? It is obviously worth more, even as a conversation piece, than a melted nothing.

I agree with TBGO.Certainly at least a conversation piece as is.Melted = nothing.I did a quick google check and it seems Edlow Lead Co. was started about 1950s-60s,recycling the lead out of batteries.Great CW finds!! Love those bullets.Tell us more about the site.WTG on the finds!!HH Good luck with the rest.
