Barrel sinker. They make "bird friendly" non-lead sinkers nowadays too. Doesn't seem like lead would just break off clean. Cut maybe? Some barrel sinkers actually slide over your line, so to remove the sinker you'd have to cut your line. Maybe some lazy guy would rather cut a sinker, than have to re-tie his hook on! LOL
