I think the rider looks like the crackerjack kid or Buster Brown.Identifying the rider may help.It looks pretty crude and is pretty small in size.Maybe it was a giveaway at a carnival or old gumball machine. Before lead was known to be dangerous to children (and adults).I'll look into it,now i'm off to work :P.Good luck and welcome to the Tnet forum,i'm sure we'll pinpoint it's origin. :)

Glad to have you with us, Albuqwirke!

After following up on Jeff's suggestion, you might also try http://www.maloneysonline.com/ Just click on "Enter Online Directory Now," then do a search on "toy soldiers" for a list of experts, clubs, etc. that you can e-mail about your find

A good book, if you've got the time and patience to troll through its 700+ pages, is Collecting American-Made Toy Soldiers by Richard O'Brien. It's about $33 in stores, but you can pick up a good used copy for less than half that. In fact, I just checked, and there's one on eBay right now for $10.

Sorry, Trk5capt... gonna have to punt on this one, although I'm guessing it might be from a c. 1950's dimestore set, based on size and overall appearance. Did a quick thumb-through in O'Brien's book, with no obvious matches. Somebody else on the forum's bound to know, though. This place is overrun with experts! ;)
