lead heart

found this earlier today hunting a creek beside a CW campsite not sure if its just a homade heart or lead backing to something else it has a hole in the middle at the top.any thoughts?

It could be a Union Army camp made corps badge...or it could be camp art .. or .... Whatever it is, I like it! Nice find!

Yep,agree with Creskol. The martingales were much broader than this piece. Great save for the collection

Dfxcobb, Great find and Save on the lead heart. One of my personal favorite things to find is the carved pieces that the soldiers took their time to sit down and create. It makes you wonder if they were thinking of their wife or sweetheart faraway back home. The small hole in the top of this piece may have enabled this piece to be worn by a chain. This piece will be a great addition to your collection.
