I'm wondering if this would have anything to do with an old fire department that used to be on the property where I found this. Any ideas why this would be made out of lead?

Yup, that's what it looks like to me, I have even found the at Fur Trade Era Indian sites. Very simple but popular toy that litterly goes back centuries.

I posted this a long time ago and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a "whizzer" toy, I still haven't identified it for sure. I don't think it's a button, even though it looks just like one.

Don't think it's a Whizzer. Why the third hole?

Button, hem weight, sinker, all good guesses.

(My guess is weight)
