Found this on Sunday on an old homestead dating back to 1877 but I found an 1848 Large cent which prob dates the land earlier. The land owner claims the farm dates back to the 1700s. This item feels and looks like lead, it's heavy and almost looks carved but I don't know. I also found a small buckle but I'm not sure how old it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The lead looks to me like a modern bullet called a "Maxie Ball." They are fired from muzzle loading rifles by today's hunters. I've been shooting muzzle loaders since the early 70's, and if I remember correctly they came on the scene around the 1980 plus or minus a year or two.

BosnMate is correct -- it is definitely a fired Maxi-ball, from the last 1/3rd of the 20th Century, made for modern-era shooters of Blackpowder rifles, and still being made and sold today. I should mention, there are various calibers of Maxi-Balls. See the photo below.

Thanks guys appreciate your time. Here is the video we put together in case you or anyone else wants to see the other things we dug. I'm curious about the age of the axe head and age of the buckle as we'll. thanks again!
