Maybe some kind of sash buckle? Maybe not lead, but made of a soft white metal with a gold wash finish?

Thanks Tamrock, I hope it's some type of buckle- it's definately lead backed, I just take lousy pics!

Snaps, Congrat's to you on a neat looking piece. Here's hoping you can get this piece ID'd soon. The fact that it came from a Union Camp tells you that it stands a very good chance of being from the period. It looks right by the pic. Best of Luck to you.

What size is the opening? Depending on the size, it could be a Cloak Clasp.

Neat find :)

Breezie thanks for the reply, and my apologies, I see now that I messed up on the Pic furthest to the left. What looks like an opening is really a separate piece I used just to prop the mystery piece up at the angle I wanted(why didnt I use a bullet!!!aahhh!!) But even so, I bet it could still be a cloak clasp never found one before, were they often lead-backed? Thanks, Snaps
