My son and I discovered this old Gold mine over the Thanksgiving Holidays, Its located in North GA on NF land right next to a small creek. It looks small, as there appears to have been a cave in many years ago, at the entrance way. Once inside, the tunnel is 6' wide and 8'tall. There are trees growing on some of the old tailing piles which are well over 100 yrs. old most of them are 3-4 foot in Dia. I assume It was a gold mind since there are several placer mines from the 1830's within a mile of this location. After panning the small creek we only found some small flakes. and a few old home made sluices boxes someone had hidden along the side of the creek. If anyone is interesting in going to this site I can give the GPS location. Just PM me.
