I had an awesome hunt yesterday with my brother Cody. I just got him into detecting this summer and I think he's a lifer now! I told him about the spot where I had eyeballed the 1830 LC and dug the 1797 so he went out a couple days ago to search the area but he didn't have his detector with him. He ended up eyeballing two big coppers! They're both pretty toasted but ID able. I believe he found a capped bust large cent and a KG but I don't know what variety.

The little basterd has only been treasure hunting for a couple months and he finds his first LC and KG! I haven't even found a KG yet! I was pissed lol (jealous). So I told him we had to go back out there together with our machines!

So yesterday we got together and headed to our site! A little ways in he dug a neat little picture frame, shirt pin! A few minutes later I snag the first coin! 1863 fatty! Beauty!

Now I'm getting excited! The whole time we were digging up tons of lead and copper! Maybe someone knows something about the bullets? What kind of gun would have shot them? Then I got a loud 83 at 3 inches and my hopes got higher! Normally i would just take a big scoop with my sifter but I knew better, dig it by hand! There it was an 1821 LC!! Bam!

Cody was getting pissed lol we started digging flat buttons and other relics then in some looser sand I got a deep signal and out pops my first King George copper!! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1441892684.120140.jpg
The reverse has nothing left but I can see a right facing bust. It matches the coin my brother found the day before but has less detail. Can anyone tell the variety of the KGs just by these shitty pics? Any help would be appreciated! I also dug a couple more of the lead tokens that I haven't been able to ID, maybe having a couple more examples will help! I can't tell if they're all the same or a little different than each other. Also think I found a watch fob and Cody found a watch winder. Here the rest...ImageUploadedByTapatalk1441892950.960766.jpg

Happy hunting everyone! Thanks for looking!

Not a KG, but a William III Halfpenny. Judging by the position of the ribbons showing, 1695-1699.

The first photo looks more like a 1695-98 one if the lettering GV matches what is in this photo which I believe it does, the other one you have to look at closer but appears to be the same. William III start with letters GV and KG start with GE, so right away since you can see the GV it is a William III copper.

Thank you so much! You just made my day!

The large cent that my brother eyeballed a few days ago is way bigger than my large cents! Is the capped bust variety bigger?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1441898299.180300.jpg
Or is this not a large cent? The stars around the border are obvious

Awesome hunt!

I love finding the old coppers; in any condition. :occasion14:

awesome hunt!

Thanks guys! It's been wild! I've always envied the guys on here that dig big coppers and I'm finally getting my taste! This isn't the norm for me lol, just got a real good spot going. It's takin me a few years but I think I'm finally figuring it out!

I'm learning what to look for, low spots in the beach, rubble, surface metal... Just gotta find the washouts along the beach. And be on an old beach of course
