I dug this out of a friend's yard over the weekend in Ocean County, New Jersey.

No clue what it could be.

The handle is brass and there is a metal cone wrapped around the wood tip that has deteriorated.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Looks like the bottom of something that stuck onto the ground to anchor it. Like a bird feeder or something. I sure miss lawn darts. We had those as kids. Luckily we never got stuck with one. Those things were wicked.

I am betting the handle was wood and the brass rod was the "action" end. Alignment pin or lawn aerator?

Round stock piece is pinned on with a pin through the ferrule held wood shaft.
A tent or awning pole? ( Round stock pin goes through grommet in canvas) loop on end of forage goes over pin after for a guy rope. T o be fancy ,drop a painted wood ball with a hole drilled through it over roundstock after affixing guy rope.
Or ..a clothsline prop with round stock pin in ground?

Tip lo9ks clean like it was not stuck in dirt for long Whatever it was for....
