Lawmakers enter legal battle over Blackbeard's ship

With the legal battle over the rights to images of Blackbeard's sunken flagship intensifying, lawmakers waded into the fray by taking up legislation aimed at a shipwreck-exploration company suing the state for $8 million. "In Intersal's opinion, this bill is a blatant attempt to undercut both our contract in the settlement agreement as well as our legal action," said John Masters, chairman of the board of Intersal. "Intersal will amend our filing to address this and await further developments."

I fear this is only going to get worse for the salvors. When you sign a contract with the state it seems to go downhill from there. The politicians will legislate and litigate you into ruin. Remember what Honest Abe said : " No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session."

Aren't lawmakers, "politicians" OUR representives , supposed to be for the people. Not to get off subject but, this is ridiculous that as soon as you are elected, by us, something changes..
